Family visit
Huis Van Gijn is full of special stories that you can discover together. There is always something to do. Are you coming? Up to and including 18 years old you have free admission.
Play Dress-up
A 'dressing up room' has been set up in the attic of Huis Van Gijn with fitting clothes, such as a dressing gown and various dresses for women, men and children. These clothes have been made by a costume designer in various silhouettes from the 18th and 19th centuries. They have also been sustainably made from existing fabrics, such as banners from old exhibitions at the Dordrechts Museum.
Toys attic
Many utensils, furniture and clothing from Van Gijn's time can be found here in miniature. There is a train, a doll's house and children can sit at the table to play games themselves.
The garden
Adjacent to the sheltered city garden of Huis Van Gijn, you will find our museum café. Enjoy a delicious cup of coffee with something sweet, a tasty lunch or come and have a drink. Even without visiting the museum, the café is accessible for a chat or to quietly read a newspaper.
The wheelchair toilet on the 2nd floor has a changing room. If you are looking for a quiet place to nurse your baby, ask a staff member. They are happy to help.
Transporting a child in a baby carrier is not permitted in the house. A baby carrier, pram or buggy (without attached bags or objects) is permitted.
Buggies and prams are allowed. We do ask that you make sure that nothing sticks out. The museum is full of fragile and rare objects.
There is a lift that you can use.
There are lockers available and there is an (unattended) cloakroom.
